Clovis Court Docket Searches
Every Clovis docket search begins with the issuing court. A city citation or municipal notice points to Clovis Municipal Court. State misdemeanors, DWI cases, traffic matters, and felony preliminary hearings can instead belong to Curry Magistrate Court. District Court files hold the higher state matters listed under the Ninth Judicial District. The statewide New Mexico Case Lookup gives the public an electronic way to search court records. It has limits. Official guidance says municipal results cover only specified historic criminal domestic-violence and DWI convictions. A missing Clovis municipal hit proves nothing. The city file may still exist at the courthouse.
Keep your citation or notice in hand. The court name, case number, date, and issuing agency help the clerk pull the right Clovis record. Case Lookup searches by court type, court location, case category, year, and case number. Results can be redacted. Documents often are not attached. For a municipal file, go to the Clovis city court first, and for an older or missing state file, ask the proper clerk or use the New Mexico courts IPRA route.
- Read the Clovis citation or notice and identify the court printed on it.
- For a state-court matter, search Case Lookup with the court and case details available.
- For a Clovis municipal matter, call the Municipal Court and provide the citation number or case details.
- Ask which record is available: a docket entry, hearing information, plain copy, or certified copy.
- Confirm any setting with the court before appearing because a public result is not a hearing notice.
Note: New Mexico Case Lookup is a public record search. It does not promise that every Clovis paper or municipal court record has been digitized.
Clovis Citation Payment Records
Clovis has an online payment channel. It is not a docket search, though. The City of Clovis Pay a Bill service asks for a citation number and the amount due, and it shows a $4.95 online court-fine processing fee. No docket filters, document tabs, exports, or full disposition history come with it. Pay an eligible amount there. Then contact the Clovis court for the case record or the current court date.
The official page is simple. The City of Clovis payment page shows the citation-number and amount-due entry point for this court fine channel.
Paying a listed city amount is one thing. Inspecting the underlying Clovis docket, or asking the court for a document, is a separate step.
Inside the Clovis Municipal Court
The Clovis Municipal Court sits at 217 W. Fourth Street. Two listings disagree on the ZIP. The state municipal contact page shows 88102, while the city address block shows 88101. Both name the same street address, though. The city lists 575-769-7860, with fax 575-763-9607. Office hours run Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., closing noon to 1:00 p.m. The court is closed Friday through Sunday. Call ahead when time matters.
New Mexico municipal courts hold limited jurisdiction. That tier covers petty misdemeanors, DWI/DUI, traffic violations, and municipal ordinances, generally without jury trials. A Clovis Municipal Court file does not land with the Curry County District Court Clerk just because the case arose in Clovis. The city names Judge Vicki Kelley on its municipal page. Ask court staff to confirm a specific record, setting, or filing route.

Clovis Court Locations and Files
Clovis has two court locations. Each produces its own records. The city court on W. Fourth Street handles the municipal tier, while state matters sit elsewhere. The Curry County District Court at 700 N. Main Street belongs to the Ninth Judicial District, which lists divorce, civil cases over $10,000, felony matters, child support, protection orders, and other District Court work. A Clovis address settles nothing. The caption on a citation does not decide which court owns the docket.
| Clovis record question | First court channel | Why |
|---|---|---|
| City ordinance or municipal citation | Clovis Municipal Court | The city court keeps its municipal files. |
| State misdemeanor, DWI, or state traffic matter | Curry Magistrate Court | Magistrate jurisdiction includes those limited state matters. |
| Felony or District civil case | Curry County District Court | District Court is the local general-jurisdiction trial court. |
The Curry Magistrate address is murky. Listings conflict between 221 Pile Street and 700 N. Main, Suite 5, though the phone, 575-762-3766, stays the same. Verify the visit location with Magistrate Court itself, and never treat a Clovis city record as a Magistrate record.
Finding Clovis Court Dates
The notice and the court that set it control any Clovis court date. Call the city court for a municipal setting. District and Magistrate matters have their own Ninth Judicial District pages. The public schedule splits into a District page and a Magistrate page. Each covers the current day plus six days. Neither is a full historical register of actions. The Magistrate page warns that hearing details can have omissions and tells readers to contact the court when a hearing does not appear.
A docket line may name a hearing, filing, order, continuance, judgment, or disposition. It is not the whole file. Remote Ninth notices carry their own Google Meet link. A QR code comes under the dated plan. Without them, treat the notice as in person. A Clovis municipal court notice belongs with the city court, not with any Ninth calendar assumption.
| Date | The date shown on the Clovis notice or docket entry; verify it after any weather or reset notice. |
|---|---|
| Time | The stated appearance time, which may be different from an office hour. |
| Court | Clovis Municipal Court, Magistrate Court, or District Court as printed on the case. |
| Judge | The presiding judge shown by the court or notice, if one is displayed. |
| Setting type | The displayed hearing label, such as arraignment, status, bench trial, or another court term. |
Clovis Court Weather and Youth Notices
Two local notices are easy to miss when you check a Clovis city docket. First, weather. The Clovis Municipal Court follows the Clovis Municipal Schools inclement-weather schedule. Call the clerk for a new date. Or appear on the next open date as directed. Keep this in mind. It is a Clovis municipal practice. It is not a rule for every Curry court or every Ninth District setting.
The second notice covers young defendants. Juveniles and high-school defendants need a parent or legal guardian present, or available by telephone. A docket search is the wrong tool for that question. Official Case Lookup guidance says juvenile criminal cases are not displayed effective July 1, 2007. Ask the assigned clerk about the applicable record-access rule and the current appearance instruction.
Clovis Traffic Ticket Lookups
Read a Clovis traffic ticket first. The citation names the issuing authority. It also says whether a court appearance is required. Payment details live with the Clovis Municipal Court. The city takes cash, credit or debit, checks payable to City of Clovis Municipal Court, money orders, and online payment. The online option needs the citation number and amount due. So it does not replace a phone call when the number is unreadable, the amount is unknown, or an appearance is required.
New Mexico MVD separates two kinds of tickets. One is a penalty-assessment ticket; the other requires a court appearance or traffic arraignment. Follow the court and deadline printed on the citation. A state traffic case may sit in Magistrate or District Court rather than Clovis Municipal Court. For county-wide court traffic records, see Traffic Court. The court shown on the citation remains the source for the actual Clovis file.
Failure to appear can lead to a bench warrant, and the state MVD warns of possible license-suspension action upon renewal. That general warning says nothing about a particular Clovis case, so confirm the case directly with the court.
Clovis Court Technology Records
Clovis also hosts the Ninth Judicial District courthouse. Public court-technology work happens there as well. The 2024 New Mexico Judiciary annual report identifies a speech-to-text, video, and audio pilot. It connects to the Ninth District in Clovis. A citation payment screen is not a full court-record portal. Even so, a Clovis reader can expect different access tools at the city court and at the state courthouse.
The Clovis Municipal Court source records the city court's contact and payment information. That page is the city court's own listing.
The municipal source is one local contact route. State Case Lookup and in-person clerk inspection each carry separate limits and separate purposes.
How Clovis Cases Reach the County
Not every Clovis case stays in city court. The charge decides the door. Municipal ordinance, petty-misdemeanor, DWI/DUI, and city traffic matters are municipal-court subjects. Curry Magistrate Court hears limited state civil matters, misdemeanors, DWI/traffic, and felony preliminary hearings. Felony and larger civil cases go to Curry County District Court. That court is the local general-jurisdiction trial court. Then the source court is the key to the docket, clerk, and case record.
Docket flow: Clovis Municipal Court › Curry County courts › Curry County District Court, Ninth Judicial District Court of New Mexico
When a Clovis matter is filed in Magistrate or District Court, start from the Curry County court docket home route. That route points to the state court. Keep it short on a city record search, because the county route does not merge its record with a Clovis municipal docket. It simply sends you to the right state court.
Clovis Court Record Boundaries
What a Clovis docket shows varies by court. New Mexico guidance lists the common docket and case-detail fields: court location, division, case number, case category, case style, filed date, status, settings, filings, and disposition. Party data can be redacted or suppressed. A missing document, fee ledger, or payment history in a public result does not prove the item never existed. Absence is not proof. Ask the issuing court for the specific document or record you need.
- Docket
- A chronological court activity or hearing record.
- Register of actions
- The court-record term that includes docket entries.
- Disposition
- A displayed case or charge outcome field; preserve the court's exact label.
- Redacted
- Information removed or masked from a public copy.
Municipal data in Case Lookup is limited. A city court record is not a driver-history record or an arrest record, and a different agency holds each one. That boundary keeps a Clovis request narrow.
Clovis Court Treatment Records
New Mexico's treatment-court map places an adult felony drug-court footprint in Clovis, the Curry location on that map. That is program context, not a municipal payment or docket service. A Clovis Municipal Court citation stays a city-court record. A Clovis state treatment-court matter follows the responsible state court's file and access rules. The state treatment-court map confirms the Curry/Clovis placement without supplying a public case search.
For a Clovis record inquiry, identify the court first. A Clovis municipal clerk can verify a city file. A Clovis state-court clerk can verify a file held in that court. The treatment-court listing does not make treatment records public. Nor does it replace the Clovis court clerk for a docket, copy, or hearing confirmation.
Clovis court records stay court-specific. Name the Clovis court that holds the file. Clovis Municipal Court holds a Clovis city file, and a Clovis state file belongs with the named state court. That context does not move the Clovis records boundary.
Who Can See Clovis Court Records
New Mexico Rule 1-079 presumes that court records are open to the public. Sealed, confidential, and protected material is the exception. In Clovis, where you start depends on which court holds the file. A municipal case belongs to the city court clerk. Bring the citation or case number. Bring the date range too. Know whether you want inspection, a plain copy, or a certified copy. State-court files sit with the court where they were filed. That court is the custodian. The Administrative Office of the Courts does not hold Curry court case files.
When a request goes to the judiciary instead, New Mexico's IPRA form walks you through it. Pick the court location. Pick the responsible court or department. Then describe the record with reasonable particularity. No reason is needed; the public-records materials say so plainly. Still, call ahead for historical records, certification, or to confirm how a copy will be delivered. The Ninth's published state-court fee schedule lists photocopies at $0.35 per page and certification at $1.50 each. Municipal fees are separate, so confirm those with Clovis court staff.
Key Rules:
New Mexico Rule 1-079 recognizes public access while protecting listed identifiers and sealed material.
New Mexico Courts public-records information directs case-file requests to the court that holds the file.
Case Access Policy provides redacted public online records and excludes sealed or confidential material.
Note: A public Clovis docket entry does not guarantee public access to every attachment. A rule or court order may still restrict part of the file.
